The first pic is the divine Palm Sugar Mousse Roll Cake with Jackfruit + Feuilletine. That’s the dessert from this week’s menu (March 19-20).

The second pic is from next week’s (March 26-27) dinner menu. It’s one of the best dishes ever, Hainanese Chicken Rice, with Tender Roast Chicken, Pandan-Scented Rice, Scallion-Ginger Sauce, Spicy Chili Sauce, Cucumber, + Sesame/Soy Broth for maximum sexiness.

Holy crap @nadia.creativity and @rdaphoto, you guys make incredible bread! Flavoured with beet, Kashmiri chili, and saffron. Thank you so much for sharing it with me! Could eat the whole loaf ?

Wow, so apparently it was a whole YEAR ago that I posted my first #quarantinekitchen recipe ? seems fitting to share it again! What I loved about this dish is that the ingredients are typically already in the cupboards + fridge, + it’s so easy to throw together.

Sesame-Garlic Noodles w Eggs

Serves 2 200g Dried Noodles, not too thick 2 tbsp Sesame Oil

Sesame Sauce  2 tbsp Tahini 1 tbsp Sesame Oil 2 tbsp Soy Sauce 4 tbsp Warm Water 1/8 tsp Chinese Five Spice Powder pinch of Salt, to taste
2 cloves Garlic, peeled and grated w microplane
To Finish
1 tsp Oil
1-2 Eggs, per person Red Chili, sliced (optional) Green Onion, sliced

Instructions

1.) for sesame sauce, combine tahini, sesame oil, soy sauce, water, five spice, salt, + garlic. Stir until well combined.
2.) cook the noodles for 4-5 minutes or until just tender (or however long the package recommends). Drain and put into mixing bowl; mix with a couple teaspoons sesame oil (to prevent sticking)
3.) heat the 1 teaspoon oil in a small nonstick frying pan over medium heat. Crack the eggs into the pan, cover with a tight lid and cook, uninterrupted, until the whites are completely set but the yolks are still runny, 2 to 2 1/2 minutes.
4.) meanwhile, mix the noodles w the sauce until combined. Place into bowl or plate, and slide the eggs on top. Sprinkle everything with the scallions and chili (if using). Enjoy

The first pic is our awesome ‘Philly Cheesesteak’, with 12 hour braised beef, caramelized onion ‘pop tart’, aged cheddar cheese sauce, and pepperonata. That’s part of this weeks menu.

The second pic is from next week’s dinner menu. It’s another fave dish of mine, inspired by that trip I took to Australia years ago (I still think about it, @fscheurer !). It’s a lamb croquette with lemon myrtle, dukkah, beets, and brown butter vinaigrette.

Saturday’s def call for Mayan Chicken with Spiced Tomato/Tomatillo Sauce, Accompanied by Rice, Tortillas, Spearmint, Chile, and Cacao Nib Salt, right? ?

Oh hello you sexy Banh Mi. Tender pork scented with five spice, kewpie aioli, quick-pickled daikon + carrots, mint, chili, + crunchy baguette crisps! So damn gooooood ?

Have you made a crumb cake before? Here’s a super-simple recipe for a cinnamon + butter scented crumb cake that takes no time to make, and uses a bunch of pantry basics!
Crummmmb Cake
Makes 1 cake
Ingredients
Crumbs
1 c. + 2 Tbsp (160g) All-Purpose Flour
1/3 c. (74g) Brown Sugar
1/3 c. (72g) Granulated Sugar
1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Salt
1/2 c. (4 oz) Butter, melted

Cake
1 c. (143g) All-Purpose Flour
3/4 tsp Baking Powder
1/8 tsp Baking Soda
1/4 tsp Salt
5 tbsp (2.5 oz) Butter, softened
1/2 c. (109g) Granulated Sugar
1 Egg
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1/4 c. (2 oz) Milk
1/4 c. (2 oz) Sour Cream (or yogurt)

Instructions
1.) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line an 8 by 8 inch baking dish (or nonstick frying pan) with parchment paper.
2.) For the crumbs: In a mixing bowl whisk together brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon + salt. Pour in melted butter and stir to combine. Slowly add flour and mix with spoon until no streaks of flour remain. Set aside to rest while cake batter is prepared.

3.) For the cake: In a mixing bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda + salt for 20 seconds, set aside. In a second mixing bowl whisk together butter + granulated sugar until pale + fluffy. Mix in egg + vanilla. In liquid measuring cup used to measure milk, whisk together sour cream (or yogurt) with milk. Add in 1/3 of the flour mixture to the butter mixture and blend just until combined, then add 1/2 of the milk mixture and mix just until combined. Repeat process once more, then end by mixing in last 1/3 of the flour mixture until nearly combined. Scape down sides and bottom of bowl using a rubber spatula and fold batter to fully incorporate.

4.) Pour batter into prepared baking dish and spread into an even layer. Break crumb mixture into pea sized crumbs and sprinkle evenly over batter. Bake in preheated oven until toothpick inserted into center comes out free of batter,about 32 - 35 minutes. Cool in pan 10 minutes, then using parchment overhang lift cake from pan and cool on a wire rack. Store in an airtight container.

Perfect night for dipping some housemade pork + scallion dumplings in spicy chili-soy-black vinegar dipping sauce, amirite?

When I first posted this Gooey Chocolate Cake-In-A-Mug recipe back in March, it was delicious. Spoiler alert...it’s still delicious. And perfect on a day like today. An instant choco cake that takes less than 20 minutes? Recipe below!

Sexy Chocolate Cake-In-A-Mug

1 serving
Ingredients
3 tbsp All-Purpose Flour
3 tbsp Sugar
2 tbsp Cocoa Powder
1/4 tsp Baking Powder
Pinch of Salt
4 tbsp Milk
3 tbsp Vegetable Oil
Splash Vanilla Extract, optional
3 1/2 tbsp Dark Chocolate Chips
Instructions-
1.) Put the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt in a small mixing bowl + blend thoroughly w a fork. Add the milk, vegetable oil and vanilla (if using) and blend until smooth. Stir in the chocolate chips, then scoop into a 12-ounce microwave-safe ceramic mug.

2.) Microwave on high for 90 seconds. Do not overcook or the cake will be dry. Let cool for 2 to 3 minutes before eating. Put extra choco chips on top if you want ?
